Yup, you read that right. A senator sues God.
First heard about it on TV last night. Then I googled around and found a bit more on the subject.
At first I thought it was absurd. The senator was just wasting his time.
I mean, why sue God?
Then again, there are atheists and agnostics. Not a big deal for them, obviously.
Anyway, here’s one link about it:
An interesting bit from that article:
Chambers said senators periodically have offered bills prohibiting the filing of certain types of suits. He said his main objection is that the constitution requires that the doors to the courthouse be open to all.
As I read that article and others, I began to see Senator Chambers’ point. As long as he’s doing that out of his own pocket and not via taxpayers’ money, it’s fine.
Of course, even if he gets a favorable judgment, enforcing that is a different story. Then again, his objective isn’t to get the judgment imposed on God at all.
If God has a sense of humor, He’s no doubt chuckling.
