US Marine Convicted Of Rape Moved To US Embassy

Just found out yesterday that Daniel Smith, the US Marine who was recently convicted of rape and confined at Makati City Jail, was surreptitiously transferred to the US embassy.

I only have one thing to say about that. And this will be the first time I’m going to do it here.

Just read the online version of PDI and saw this:

BREAKING her silence, President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo has defended her administration’s decision to transfer a convicted US Marine to the US Embassy from a local jail, saying this was to prevent the further deterioration in the Philippines relationship with the US.

At the same time, Arroyo said the government was prepared to face the legal challenges resulting from such action.

“The government had to take this action in order to forestall the further deterioration in our strategic relationship with the United States, which was being rapidly eroded by our non-compliance with the Visiting Forces Agreement,” Arroyo said in a statement Tuesday.

“The executive branch is prepared to face legal challenges to this decision and we are confident that its legitimacy and wisdom will be upheld,” she said.

Great. Just f****** great.

Unfortunately she knows people aren’t going to do anything about this except complain. The only time she’ll really worry is if there’ll be enough critical mass of people to finally take physical action against her.

When is that going to happen? Unfortunately I don’t know.

What a f****** way to start 2007. Our country is going to look even more f****** stupid because of our f****** excuse for a president.

Sorry for the swearing. But I hope you can imagine how outraged I am over this thing.
